Working Remotely in Imsouane

About an hour's drive north of the Moroccan surf Mecca of Tagahzout, you find the small laidback fishing village turned surf village Imsouane. If you're looking for a very chill place where you can work remotely and catch super long smooth rides, Imsouane is your place.

Although sadly the buildings closest to the ocean in Imsouane were demolished in early 2024, the village is still very much worth a visit. After all, what's been hailed as northern Africa's longest wave is still peeling perfectly. And the natural beauty of the shimmering bay surrounded by the mysterious mountains is still intact. Even though a lot of what gave Imsouane its charm was destroyed, the spirit can't be taken away.

Surfing in Imsouane

Imsouane has two surf spots, The Bay and Cathedral Point. The bay is a crazy long and smooth ride, and when it's connecting properly, it provides what some people say is Northern Africa's longest wave. Although the bay is perfect for a bit longer boards and beginner to intermediate-friendly, on a good-sized swell it can also provide some nice walls for short boards.

A particular aspect of the bay is that you rarely paddle back to the peak. Instead, you surf it to the end and walk back along the beach.

Cathedral Point is more exposed and in general more for intermediate to advanced surfers. However, if it's a small swell it can also provide quite a few super fun beach break type of peaks.

Getting There

Imsouane is an hour north of Taghazout, you can either get there by bus, taxi, or rental car.
